About Us

Mission: Create and professionally support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise in us all.

Vision: Mentoring allows everyone to achieve their full potential.

Accountability statement: We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each young person in our program achieving: Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships with an avoidance of risky behaviors.

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor and volunteer supported organization. Founded in 1971, Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters covers a service area of 20 communities and 65 schools throughout Yavapai County and Sedona.

The agency operates two offices: Prescott and Cottonwood, under the direction of Executive Director Kristen Kerns.

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the belief that inherent in every young person is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and young people up to age 24 ("Littles").

Research tells us that, compared to all other youth their age, young people matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.
